Saturday 12 November sees a unique and important conference taking place in Winchester.
‘Care for Our Common Home’ is a Catholic Diocese conference aiming to provide a meeting place where the views of different faiths are expressed on how we care for our planet.
Many of us will have been impressed by Pope Francis focus on what he calls “global environmental deterioration” in the document ‘Laudato Si … On the Care of Our Common Home.’ This conference provides a unique opportunity to discuss environmental issues outside of our usual settings and to hear from others with varying opinions and viewpoints.
Speakers at the conference include Prof. Mary Grey and Rev. Dr. Augusto Zampini who will describe the Care for Our Common Home document published by Pope Francis. Robert Hutchinson will then provide reflections on the recent Parish Summit and it’s outcomes. Bishop Philip Egan will chair the
There will also be short presentations from seven members of different Christian communities, from people of different faiths and those who would not declare a faith at all. Each contributor shares the common care of our planet and this intersection of ideas should prove insightful and inspiring.
