Dr Shirley Firth, honorary research fellow at the University of Winchester, is launching her new book this month at the Quaker Friends Meeting House in Winchester.
Dr Firth and her co-author Joanna Wilson have written Death – the Gateway to Life as an exploration of near death experiences. The book is based on papers given at the conference ‘Is Heaven for Real?’, held at the University of Winchester in July 2016.
The conference explored how common elements of these reported experiences might impact on what is known about the nature of consciousness, on religious and spiritual perspectives of the afterlife and the practical implications these might have for caring for people towards the end of life.
The launch is free to attend and will be held at 7.00pm on Wednesday 25 September 2019 at the Friends Meeting House, 16 Colebrook Street, Winchester, SO23 9LH.
