We all love Christmas. And, as Christians, we love to share the true meaning of Christmas, don’t we?
Now’s your chance.
Each year, Churches Together, at the invitation of the Bishop, organises the Real Christmas Chalet at the ever-popular Winchester Christmas Market.
Staffing the chalet gives us the opportunity to share the love of God. It’s so simple. Christians just like you and me chat to shoppers and invite them to reflect on what Christmas really means.
“Come to me, all who are burdened and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”
This year, we are asking people simply to rest for a moment. Put away the cares of the week, stop and sit down. Rest – it’s God’s gift to them.
All people need is an invitation
That’s where you come in.
“Would you like to step into our Christmas Present and have a rest?”
You can volunteer for as little as two hours – and every invitation, every welcoming smile you give will have a tremendous impact on the shoppers around you.
These volunteers found it rewarding last year.
It was really easy to chat with people.
I found a return train ticket. Prayed I would find the person whose ticket it was. I headed into the crowd and came face to face with a lady who had written a prayer star earlier. The ticket was hers!
I had lots of good conversations. It was good to engage with people.
You can find out more on the Real Christmas Chalet volunteering page including the dates when full training will be given.
Sign up now and help someone find the peace that only God can provide at the Real Christmas Chalet (and don’t forget to come to the training).
