Churches Together in Winchester’s pandemic work recognised by ‘Local Hero Award’

Churches Together in Winchester has been presented with The Mayor of Winchester’s ‘Local Hero Award’. The citation, submitted by Anna O’Brien of Winchester Radio, says that “Churches Together in Winchester have been compassionate and amazing throughout coronavirus” citing the churches’ efforts to keep people connected with their faith and working tirelessly to support the most vulnerable.

Reverend Tim Searle, Chair of Churches Together in Winchester, said, “May I take this opportunity to thank CTW’s Executive Committee, our Champions, my colleagues in the city and above all, those who volunteer so generously to share the love of Christ with all.”

The award echoes recent research which highlights how Christian churches across Britain have strengthened links with the whole community they serve during the pandemic
