“UK-Ukraine Together” documentary highlights Winchester’s unity and solidarity with refugees

The Ukrainian community in Winchester is to screen a documentary film which sheds light on the profound support extended to the Ukrainian people by this city.
The free screening of “UK-Ukraine Together” is open to all and takes place at United Church on Jewry Street, Winchester at 3pm on Saturday 11th May.
Through interviews with host families and organisations, the film explores and reflects on the motivations behind hosting and supporting Ukrainians. It showcases the collective efforts of the Winchester community to nurture relationships with the refugees.
Elena Popova, an activist and filmmaker from Mariupol is behind the project. She says, “When I arrived in the UK, I was shocked in a positive way by the hospitality of the British people. I always thought you were so reserved! So I decided to interview people and ask them a single question about their motivations. The result is this film.”
The screening will be followed by an engaging discussion, providing attendees with an opportunity to reflect on the themes presented in the documentary and engage in meaningful dialogue.
To reserve your seat at the screening, message them or register your interest via their event page.
