Winchester Volunteering Guide

Volunteering is a vital community need.

Whether they are retired, working part time, students or building experience as they seek paid employment, more and more people are looking for the chance to volunteer. This Churches Together guide shows just how many diverse and exciting volunteering opportunities are available here in Winchester.

The charities and other voluntary organisations in this guide are looking for people with a wide range of skills and temperaments. In return, they offer a huge variety of experiences, working with others, demonstrating teamwork, initiative, camaraderie. Human skills and qualities combined with Christian virtue and vision.

These pages give a flavour of what each of these organisations represents and what kind of people they are looking for. If any of them resonate with you, please get in touch directly with the charity.

As Canon Roly Riem says, “There is no better way of commending faith to others than by loving our neighbours in practical ways. The parable of the Good Samaritan reminds us that helping others is actually the way to fullness of life.”

Our role is to provide the signposts which will help you prayerfully find your way to the right volunteering opportunity: the place where you can best utilise your talents for the benefit of others.

We know this is not an exhaustive list of sources. So, if you represent a charity or voluntary organisation, which is rooted in the Christian faith, we would love to include you in the guide. Simply write your profile and send it, with a high quality jpeg of your logo, to communications@ctwin.org.uk.
