The University of Winchester volunteering service is based within the Careers department at the university. This is available to all students, including recent graduates, and university staff.
Volunteering and community engagement is actively encouraged at the university for a number of reasons:
- Personal and professional development
- Developing and gaining new skills
- Enhancing employability and your CV
- Making a real difference in your community
- Networking and friendship opportunities
- Some students can use their volunteering towards a module
The Volunteering service specifically offers support and information about UK based volunteering. We work with many local charities and organisations who offer a diverse range of volunteering roles such as; volunteering with children, with those experiencing homelessness, working with families through support initiatives, volunteering in the heritage sector, events and media roles. Our goal is to offer a range of opportunities that will appeal to everyone.
The University of Winchester additionally links with charities in other areas e.g: Southampton, Eastleigh, Romsey, New Forest and Basingstoke. And we can also provide links to search national opportunities.
We promote roles via our online volunteering site, faculty links, social media, guest talks and volunteering events both on and off campus.
For those who would love to find out more about how to get involved then we’d love to hear from you! For those considering setting up their own volunteering or community project, we can offer assistance with establishing contacts and volunteer recruitment.
